Hey everybody.
I've been spending a lot of time reading through the forums for a couple weeks now, and just signed up so I can put my question out there for those who know.
I have never hunted Colorado, but have been a resident for nearly 10 years now. I live in Carbondale, and am trying to find a good unit to start scouting in the spring. I'm fairly fit, and regularly work above 12,000FT, so hiking and altitude shouldn't be an issue. I'll be hunting with black powder as well.
Talking with a few guys at work, it sounds like 471 and 43 are two possible options close to home. One takes a deer every year in 471, and the other hasn't taken a deer in nearly 6 years in either unit.
I'm looking for some insight into the mountain area. I have the 9 days blocked off for time off already, and want to start scouting.
Thanks!
