has any one else ran into the new trick of posting no trespasssing signs and no hunting sighns on public ground to keep other hunters away from someones honey holes my son and i ran into this last year during the deer hunt just off of high way 6 east of the summit we hunted and scouted during the archery and muzzy hunt and no sighns then the night before the rifLE opener same spot sighns every couple hundred yards ...all on public ground
must say good idea but legal ethical fair i dont think so . so what should be done if this is encountered and has anyone else ran into the same thing

Walk past the signs immediately after reporting the litter strewn along the road. But you'd better be darned sure it's actually public land first.

Haven't ran into it yet. I would report it and have dwr or the sheriff verify that you are truly on public land. A deal could have been in the works during the previous two seasons
Good Luck and Great Memories

I have never seen it myself, but I have seen land posted that had not been previousely. Everyone in the area had had access to it for so long that no one new it was private. Land was sold and posted. Caused a lot of frustration and problems, but private is private.

Always safer to report the signs and wait for confirmation.

I just want to be friends.

Well dont it have to be posted so many days before the opener to be leqal? I know we run into that here during the pheant hunt and I believe its 10 days before the hunt opens it has to be post to acually hold up. Dont know for sure I never pushed the issue. Its just how things are nowadays. money talks bullsh*! walks.

I've never read that you need to have land posted "prior" to a hunt. Private is privete and can be posted at any time. However, it would be kind of rude to post your land after dark the evening before a hunt starts!

the land has been checked it is public this is a new game some tards are playing to keep you off access roads .... anyone else ran into the same

It is actually a federal violation of the law to post federal (forest service or BLM) land as private. The people posting could get into serious trouble IF CAUGHT. Have you ducks in a row and have fun. I have run into this several times in Lambs Canyon. I know the area is not private so I hunt. I have not taken the signs down because it scares off many people. In fact, I have been stopped by people (Tree Huggers/anti hunters) several times. They have tried to tell me I am trespassing and they say they will call the cops. I have always told them they are illegally posting federal land and that it's a violation of the law. When I ask for their names they drive away as fast as they can. I even had one lady tell me how wrong I was for hunting HER deer and elk. People will try and get away with whatever they can.

I hunted Vernon a few years ago with an archery tag. We'd scouted a ton and knew where the bucks were (it wasn't a big secret), the next morning we get up and head to our spot, low and behold, no trespassing signs on all the gates. Really pissed me off! It was public land and we proceded to hunt as planned. We seen some other signs later that day that had been placed overnight...they were torn up laying on the ground.

As a land owner this kinda post really sucks, It will be just one more thing that I will hear this year " I thought someone was just kidding with the signs", Last year I hung 45 signs-This year I had 17 left hanging-All my land is fenced and has been posted for the last 15 or so year. Every year it gets worse, Here's the best thing if you shoot a deer or elk and get caught it is 150.00 fine. Now I know that for some of the deer and elk that have been taken out of there everyone would be glad to pay 150.00 to kill a deer like that.
If most of you guys had to deal with these guys, it would make you sick.
Good luck to everyone, and post pics.

Yah we ran into this ##### just barely on the archery hunt what we ended up doing is calling the county attourney. we were in a small town and that was easy but if i was in a bigger town probley dwr or the county sherrifs.
