To make pope an young does ur animal need to be stripped of its velvet to be officially scored and put in the books

Not Pope&Young, but for B&C I believe the velvet must be stripped off.

P&Y accepts velvet entries for all antlered species in their respective class (typical & non-typical). They are NOT ranked and will only appear in the very next published book. After that, they will remain in the P&Y archives as an accepted animal. (DVD that accompanies the book) The minimum scores are the same as non-velvet animals.
Velvet animals are NOT eligible for world record status. They MUST be stripped and panel measured to be eligible.
