Cold, dreary, rainy day. Don't think it cleared 50 degrees, so needed to fire up the grill to stay warm!! Grabbed my skillet and press, a package of really nice steaks from the freezer, and some Vidalia onions to sautée. Got some sides going in the house, and the bread ready for the end. They were thinner than I like, so heated up to 500-550 degrees, threw them on and the press, and shut 'er off. Three minutes instead of the usual 4 for 1-1 1/4" steaks. Came out really nice, and I was one happy piglet!!!

Yeah, it was way too long and unwieldy, and didn't fit inside my portable RV grill. Now it's purrfect!!
LOL - likely story. Could it be that you didn't want your wife to be able to get a good grip on it when you misbehaved or when you threatened her with a fish supper again? ;) --- kidding looks amazing!

:) I'm seeing a problem here, with backpack hunting and packing my cast iron!!! There's only so much we could do with Mountain House.

I'm flexible. We can have youngsters pack the gear on backpack trips. But, the main hunts would be the trailer hunts. I bring all kinds of goodies on those hunts. :)

Blank, you know I have to give you and Tony crap when you post great looking meals. Kudos!

That's a lot like the one at the deer lease down in Uvalde. They really go to some extremes on BBQ's and grills. Sure nice to cook on a hot mesquite fire tho.

I killed my scimitar oryx & a couple good bucks just a few miles north of Uvalde. The ranch mgr. worked at the feed store there.

This was on FB. My answer was, "In a heartbeat...that would be somewhat extravagant, in fact."

I own a grill built on the same type as above. It's just a LOT smaller & doesn't have to be cranked to adjust the height.

My friend, the late Art Griffith, doing up some Gambel's quail in my javelina hunting camp. The quail were just an appetizer. I was in the 'kitchen' preparing the rest of our meal.
