LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-18 AT 00:39AM (MST)[p]Wyoming seems to be producing some quality bucks this year. I have my own theory on why but I won't bore you with details. Here is a General season buck for your viewing pleasure. I was able to turn this buck up and after what I thought was a good evaluation, past him on to my hunting buddy. He made a play on him but wasn?t able to make it happen. The next morning found us closer to where we'd turned him up the night before but after a 9:30 AM and no sign of him or any other shooters we resorted to nap time. We both stired around 11:00 and looked at each other with the ?let's get the hell out of here look?. As I stood to gather my things and take a leak, I figured I might as well multi-task with the binos will I drained the half a pot of coffee from my bladder. Believe it or not I spotted a bedded buck mid-stream and could tell it was a buck buck nothing more. After a quick laugh, the spotters were once again at work. A few minutes went by and we could tell it was indeed the same buck from the night before and this time I had a feeling I probably should pull the trigger myself. I ranged him at 426 yards, doped my scope and settled in for nearly the exact distance I did most of my load development at. Needless to say I felt right at home taking the shot even while he was bedded. One shot was all that was needed. He didn't even get out of his bed.

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...
