Two days into opening season the stars lined up. My dad has been putting in for a Nevada bull for many years. Unfortunately, he reached the age of 75 by the time he drew his tag. This hunt was extra special because my two brothers and three brother-in-laws were able to be there to experience it. I can tell you we Nevadans are spoiled when it comes to elk. We have some incredible bulls and I have seen good friends pass on 340+ bulls. My dad would have been thrilled with a spike so we over did it by getting him on this bull. From the beginning he was nervous about using his trusty old Winchester .270. With some premium ammo (150 Nosler Partition) one shot from 172 yards and this bull was down.
