Quail Spots?

Hey all, my snowbird Dad is coming down from MO for Christmas and we'd both like to see if we can get into some quail.

I've seen gambels around when hunting other things, but haven't really concentrated on hunting them much.

Any landscape traits I should look for? Elevation? Washes? Water? Flats and cover? We would always walk fencerows back in the Midwest, but usually isn't the same here with cover.

Would be fun to find a couple coveys somewhere for us to go for. Thanks for any tips!

It would help if we knew where you live.

Otherwise, try hunting near any of the lakes in the lower desert areas of the state. Concentrate a mile or less from the water. Bartlett, Roosevelt, Pleasant, Canyon, Alamo and Saguaro always have lots of birds roaming around. Likewise for the lower Colorado River lakes.

Just stay in the lower country and foothills. Any other desert areas with a water source or WET tank will also hold birds.

How To Hunt Coues Deer

Absolutely Tony. I live in NW Peoria so will try Lake Pleasant, as I have a stink pig tag this January.

Thank you for the tip sir.
