Is it possible to apply for a cow tag only, for Elk area 39 for Archery season and not burn my points?

If your at max points be careful with that 1st choice if you don't want to use them this year you might just get 1st choice. Put in for 7,100 or 30,31 regular price or any top, hard to draw area then your cow area for 2nd choice you draw 2nd choice you keep your points if you draw 1st choice their gone.

There lies the whole problem in trying to draw a second choice when you're at or near max PPs. He could probably put in those toughest areas as a first choice and then put the cow tag 4 or 9 either sex tag as his second choice in the Special draw, but who wants to pay $1000 to shoot a cow? I sure don't and you just never know that the first choice will not get drawn based on previous draws.

Why can't you apply for a reduced price cow/calf tag? I don't think they use PP's.

I noticed they do not have a reduced cow/calf hunt( type 6) in area 39 sorry.
