I was thinking of buying an Arizona Deer Archery Tag for a non-resident but I can not figure out what is considered the hunting year in Arizona. For example if I buy a deer tag January 1st, does that tag last until December 31st? In NM the hunting year is April 1st until March 31st so I am just learning Arizona and wondering what the dates are. I haven't called Arizona Game and Fish yet. Thanks in advance!

The OTC archery deer tag will be good for the entire year January 1st thru December 31st. You will need to check the regs as some units are open and some are not.

Everything in Arizona is Calendar year, except for licenses, which change to 365 from purchase starting 2014.

If you are going for the late hunt, wait until just before the new year and then buy the lic and tag for Jan 2014. The tag will be good for three state wide periods, but the Jan period is only for Jan 1 - Jan 31st. The tag will still be good for the other two periods.
I will be doing the same thing...

The license year is the calender year. You can only harvest one deer a year. Keep in mind that if you harvest one in January, you can't apply for a tag in the fall draw, but you could still buy a point.

Like I already said earlier, they just changed the system, and the licenses will be valid FOR ONE YEAR FROM THE PURCHASE DATE for all licenses purchased starting 1/1/2014. Licenses are therefore NO longer based on a calendar year.
