I am debating whether to get the remington 700 adl or the winchester 70 black shadow. I am going with the sythetic stock in 30.06 caliber. Which would you choose and why?

I have both rifles in my rack. If I were to choose, I'd take the Winchester M70. I like its' three position safety better, the controlled round feeding, and its' overall more streamlined stock shape that make it handle just a bit better IMO. The Rem700 is a fine rig too, but I gotta give a slight nod to the Winchester. You'll be fine with either one. As an aside, did you take a look at the Tikka Hunter bolt gun made at the Sako plant? That is one fine production rifle. Extremely accurate right out of the box, has a superb stock design, and no action is smoother out of the box. It really is a shockingly fine rifle at any price, but at under $400, it's a steal.

I have had 'em both too!
This can really start something! The Win has the controlled feed(less likley to jam)I think that is the biggest selling point.
Custom gun builders like the Rem, because it has a lighter action.
I have heard guy's say that the extractor is weak on the Rem.
I have heard also that generally Remingtons tend to be more acurate out of the box.
Pick whichever you like,you can't really go wrong with either!

My vote goes to the Winchester 70
when I was looking for a 300 Win. Mag.
safety was a big issue and the 3 point position on the Winchester
sold me-the push-pull safetys just did not cut it to easily moved
The Winchester just felt good

I also like many have the black shadow i the 300 win mag.
supper gun.
one thing i would like to suggest is get good mounts (leapold)
the only thing i wish i had done was go the stainless barrel.
bouncing around in a scabbord the blueing on the muzzle is warn a little thin.
Just got back from opening deer season in Missouri, what a trip.
