Its long but you have to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday Hawkeye went out to see some deer at Traverse Mountain. He called and said that he saw quite a few nice bucks. It is all PRIVATE PROPERTY and CLEARLY MARKED! So he watched and saw a few that had dropped both sides and a few with only one side.
So we went out to look at them. As we pulled up, we saw a grey dodge pick up with nobody inside that was parked up the hill a ways. So we started glassing and sure enough, there they were, walking right at the deer. Guess how we spotted them???? 20-30 deer running in the snow straight away from the people. The snow was knee deep on the deer in most areas and more or less in other areas. As they walked around the hills and the flat, we could always find right where they were due to the steady line of deer running away from the bunches of oak brush and sage brush that the people were walking in.
It was a man and his daughter and son. The doughter had 3 nice 4x4 sheds, one matching. The dad had 4 or five very nice 4x4 sheds, and the son had only 1 shed that we could see.
It gets better!!!!
Not only were the deer running for the 2 hours we watched but they drove up to us. I think that they knew something was up. The dad came over to us and explained that it is private property. We agreed. It was clearly marked. He let us know that he did not have permission but the RIGHT to go in there because he's the project manager on all of the building of homes and property. WGARA!!(Who Gives A Rats Ars) He exclaimed that he has turned in 3 convicted poachers, has 22 dna samples of poached deer, and just this week chased 3 men on 4-wheelers out of there that were chasing deer.
We let him know that those are not his deer to hurass and that it is against the law and with the amount of snow and the lack of food and the poor shape of the deer herd, that he sould not be out there pressuring the deer.
He said and I quote, "You are probably one of those guys that sits there and read MONSTERMULEYS web site every day and hear about how bad the deer are." Once again we agreed, but we also stated that it was common sense to see the deer in bad shape.
I called th dwr. Now lets see if they come through. I have pictures of truck, people with sheds in hands, liscence plate # and pictures of the people. Its amazing what a camara can do.
What do you all think.
