Sheep tag, Unit 55

I lived in Idaho, almost 30 years ago. My son
moved up there and on his first draw he got
a sheep tag. Waahooo! Jim Sage area.

Looking forward to go with him and hunt Idaho
again. I've hunted sheep a couple of time, but
don't know a lot about the unit. Any advice would
be welcome. TIA

It's my guess you're in for a tough hunt. I might be mistaken but I think this unit has historically underperformed. When it opened a few years back there were high hopes for big rams but hunters found the opposite was true. The sheep numbers were low and the rams they did see were small.

My understanding is that unit has good access. Even with some bleak reports a lot of hunters would be jealous of your tag. I am.

Never hunted sheep but the few I have seen in unit 55 were on the south end,
