I am having some tanned capes sent to me from African plains game I took last month. I am having them send me the capes from a springbok, 2 oryx, and a kudu. I might have to spread them out over time so my wife doesn't kill me over the taxidermy bill. Any idea how long I can sit on the tanned capes before I better get them to a taxidermist? Also, any good taxis in UT that do African game? Thanks.

It really depends. Sometimes they are fine after several years, sometimes have acid rot a little after a year. The safe way to go is to re-hydrate them, and freeze them. They'll be good for a long time.

Dax, I'll second what NMtaxi said. Some capes tanned in Africa are quality and others are not. Get your capes, take them to your taxidermist and let him re-hydrate, assess, and store them for you. It will save a lot of headaches down the road.
