I've bowhunted this area quite a bit and wouldn't dare take my father anywhere near it. Way too ugly for him where I like to hunt. You almost have to like pain and the high of accomplishment even shooting an animal in that country with a bow. I do it, hate myself dearly at the time for it, but love the rewards the rest of the year.
As of this unit being great hunting isn't necessarily true. Certain areas hold animals well, some don't. Pretty typical, but monsters are few and far between for record book animals. As of seeing 20+ animals in the 350 plus book in there, it's a bunch of bs. There is only one unit in Oregon that has that capability and it's not there. Seeing one bull 20x does not count. I've hunted some of the most remote areas there is in that unit and have seen possibly 3 that are within that scope of animal. And I'm not swearing to it, because none of them have died from me.
If you're wondering OldOregon, that's where the link between you and Cass comes from. I pretty much stay out of it because they fight over areas I'm not familiar with, but this one I am. Telling the truth gets more merit than bragging. There are only a few people who can accurately judge a true 350+ bull on the hoof well. At 18 years old, you're not one of them. I don't knock you for your excitement over hunting, but know when to keep the bs from getting too large is a huge part of growing up. Anyhow, I'm off my .02. Good luck on the hunt and post some pics.
