Spot and stalk Bear

Never hunted Bear before drew a San Juan tag, I plan to hunt spot and stalk.I would like little help I have never been in this unit and would like a good starting point? Maybe an area where I wont have to compete with or be in the way of those hunting with dogs.I can only get about a week off work so should I hunt first few weeks or later? When do they rub and do there hides stay looking good? When do they breed and is it a good time to hunt them? Maybe dumb questions but like I said rookie bear hunter just looking to have a fun hunt thanks for any help.

I guided a san juan s and s bear hunt last year. I found the 2nd week we saw more bears than any other week. find acorns and you will find bears. Just get a good vantage point and glass, glass and glass some more. Pretty much bears in every area of the unit. Just pick a spot and pound it til you turn up a bear.
