I am looking at buying a new spotting scope and want scope that will last a long time and that has excellent glass. What are some options and reasonable prices. Nick

"Excellent glass" and "reasonable price" don't go together unless reasonable to you is $1200 and up. What is your price range??

I could spend 1200-1300 but that would be it. 800 would be more like it though, especially after a lightweight tripod.

I have the 12x40x60mm Leupold and like it a lot. It could use a little more magnification but I realy like the eye relief as I am an eyeglass wearer. Here's one on ebay:

My favorite lightweight tripod is the Slik Carbon Pro 713. the 613 is a bit lighter but doesn't go as high. Here's the cheapest place for the tripod:

Your going to need a pan head now. I realy like the Bogen 3160. They don't make it any more but you can always find one on ebay:

This one needs an arm but I'm sure more will be up for auction if you just keep looking.
