Stretched to the max

Piper

You aren't the one who made the pea brained comment. So take some time off and enjoy yourself today.

Yes what is your point? are you saying we're geared up and ready for WWII or what?

A couple years ago when Bush was puffed up and hinting he'd like make a move on Iran some of the top brass at the pentagon said they'd resign if he preceeded. why? because they said we didn't have the equipment or the manpower to even consider another war. how much better shape are we in today than we were then? we have to pull troops out of Iraq to get more in Afghanistan so that tells me we don't have a few million just sitting on the bench.

We are streched to the max in these areas not to mention the fact we're broke and fighting takes money, to say otherwise is ignorant. if attacked we'll do what we have to do no question but we're not in a position to start anything, want to bet on that?

dud

I don't want to start any war. But we are not stretched to the max. The vast majority of our troops are held in reserve or can't you read? Probably not.

Good try, if we have so many on the benches why were we forcing retiries back to service and extending tours way beyond normal? personel is streched dispite what statistics say. even republicans were saying last year we were too short on manpower and equipment in the US to defend an attack on the nation.

Where is all the equipment the so called huge reserve forces are going to ned to fight with? and is a loan in place to fund a war?

We're streched to the max and everyone including Iran knows it .

Bringing in reserves that had that specific training is the reason. We have many troops in reserve dude. Our military is far better than you give them credit for being. But you being a defeatist will never have faith in the men and women in the armed services. Just distain.

Just give up, maxed out doesn't mean not a sole to spare it means we don't need any other fights.

Do you even read the news? as Iraq draws down Afghanistan gets more troops. put 5 marbles in each hand, take two from one hand and place them in the other, now you have more marbles in one hand right? 7 in one and 3 in the other. call the hand with 7 marbles Afghanistan and you'll then understand how we get more troops there when we're maxed out.

I'll concede the fact we don't need another fight. No problem there. Maybe our so called European Allies could have stepped up to the plate on Afghanistan. But then again they are the French and the Frenchified rest.

Actually if we had stayed on target in Afghanistan we did have quite a bit of support from other nations, when we wondered off in Iraq we lost it. now it's old news and it looks like a losing battle so they figure you worry about it, you can't start a war and then retrurn to it as a priority 7 or 8 years later and expect much support.

Our military says we're losing ground in Afghanistan and have been for a while, what part of that can you prove wrong?

I didn't say we'll lose, I said the world isn't impressed enough with the progress to put much skin in the game at this point. that's their choice, we should have used their support when we had it now it's too late. prove we couldn't have had a much better situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan if we had used all out recources and the world cooperation we pizzed away in Iraq.

No obligation at all? Then if that is true in a way they deserve what happens to them at the hands of terrorists.

Maybe, but it's their choice.

We screwed the Russians over on the same ground with the same people, maybe they aren't feeling as bad about our troubles as we'd like to think.
