SW Desert General deer

I drew SW Desert rifle deer tags. I researched the unit before applying and I like the terrain it offers. After driving through the unit for many years, I decided to put in for it knowing it has mediocre success rates and low densities. It seems to have decent buck/doe ratios though. I'm going to scout in late September and plan on checking out the Wah Wah's and indian peak range. I realize water is likely a huge factor in locating animals. Can I get few honest, first hand opinions and/or experiences from people that have hunted the unit? Thanks.

I had a cow elk tag there last november and loved it. I was there for 5 days and I did see deer at least once a day, normally in the early dawn. I was farther south from where you are looking. The deer weren't huge but still nice.
