I just wanted to say thank you to those who anwsered my post regarding 7pts. My father and I really appreciate your assistance, this is very important to us as well as it is to all of you. Dad and I are both continuing our research and hopefully we will find the unit we are looking for.

I would like to ask one more question, do you believe you have a better cahnce of obtaining a nice buck hunting with a muzzle loader? I was speaking with a guy who told me if I wanted to get a nice buck in Nevada to hunt with a muzzle loader, that the muzzle loader season was a better hunt.

Just thought I would ask.

If I can ever help any of you I will, we have hunted Nevada 111-114, Eastern Oregon, Idaho and Calif. all deer.

I would say not but thats just me. they have gone hard horned and it's hotter. your best chance is with a bow and late rifle. but thats just me.

Slide you might want to know that in Nv you can only use open sights during Muzzleloader season.

I would partially agree with that. If you catch them out early MZ, still in the velvet, I think they're much more visible and accessible. Then shortly after they shed their velvet, they disappear in the trees (in units that have trees) and don't come out again until the rut. I actually think August may be the best time to see bigger bucks. Of course actually killing one that time of year requires some bowhunting skill.
