The Curse of the 3 Point Antler

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-13 AT 12:50PM (MST)[p]I've enjoyed taking my boy shed hunting for the past 4-5 years. We haven't ever watched a specific buck and found his sheds. We just go hiking in the areas that we've found to be winter grounds. We haven't found any giants and we average three miles of hiking per antler found (lots of 0 find trips).

My son feels like he is cursed to only find three points. All spikes, twos, fours, and other have been found by me. He has only picked up three points. He hopes this is the year to find a four point shed. We've only found one antler so far this year. He saw it first and it was another 3. Here it is.

All of my antler finds have been other than threes except for this one that we almost don't count as a three point.

I hope we can get out a couple of times in the next two weeks. Wish my boy luck on finding his first other than 3 point and we'll post up whatever we find.

Well my boy and I went out yesterday to an area that has historically been a honey hole for my neighbor. My neighbor came with his 12 year old daughter. We all hiked 10 miles according to the GPS. Only three antlers found. Thats 40 miles/3 antlers or 13.3 miles hiked per antler found. I found a 4-5 year white two point. So still no three point for me. Here it is (ATL)

My Boy was hoping to break the 3 point curse with a 4 point antler. Instead he broke it by finding something very unique. His shed is likely from a cactus buck. There is a cone at the base where a normal shed button would be. There are six scorable points with four at the base. Here it is.

Incidently, we saw 7 bucks still packing. That explains the lack of browns but we hadn't hit this area for three years. There should have been more whites. The goal of a 4 point for my son is still intact so check back in a couple of weeks and see if he finds one. We'll be hitting one of our better areas in two weeks.
