Bucksnort,
That mosquito buck reminds me of a day I was glassing in the highcountry in 2000. It was a bad year for bugs. I got up to my glassing spot just as it was beginning to get light. I instantly caught a nice 30 inch buck feeding beside the lake in the basin below me. He was acting very agitated. Suddenly he started jumping and kicking and shaking his head. Then he ran straight up the mountain. I mean straight up. He stopped a couple of times to shake his head and then ran full out again. It took him less than five minutes to get to the top of a wind swept ridge, which was a huge elevation gain from the lake. He hit the ridge, stood there for a minute and then bedded right there. Stayed there all morning. The ridge must have been blowing pretty hard to keep the bugs off of him. It was one of the funniest things I've ever watched a buck do.
