I was wondering if anyone has seen any signs of the rut getting started yet in Az. As of last week I hadn't seen any signs yet!

I was out today after the snow we had and seen a lot of does without bucks, but I did see a small 2 pt chasing 6 does so maybe it will be getting started in the next couple of weeks. Also I'm at about 5000 ft elev. and a friend near Flag. said there was a big buck in his yard with 3 does the day before the snow hit. "cant wait"

Well......... Has anyone seen any rutting activity yet? I was out last Sunday and I saw a herd of 15 does w/ no bucks. Funny thing was, the does were running all over the place. It was like they were being chased by a buck but there was nothing there.

Also saw two does by themselves and another three does by themselves. No bucks were sighted all day. I'm hoping to go out for 3-4 days between Christmas and new years.

We were not too far from Prescott.

Kind of curious to hear what others have seen.

Good Hunting

I've been out hunting with the late desert muzzy tag. I've seen a ton of does and until yesterday haven't seen any bucks with does.

I should have shot the buck that was with one group of does but decided to pass.
I think it will probably come back to haunt me.

The mule deer are rutting in the north central part of the state. I have not scene any bucks with out does. I spooked a doe and had the buck chase her down and run her back right by me. to fast for a shot.

I have seen some bucks starting to show some sign of the rut here in the low desert. I would say this weekend should kick things off with lower temps.

today around 2000f i seen 6 does with a 3x3 escort. watched them for about 30m he would not get more that 10y from them. hurry up jan1.

In nearly 2 weeks of hunting the muzzy hunt I saw a buck pushing a doe Saturday for the first time this year.

I got on a 30"+ buck yesterday that was by himself. There are 7 doe in the same area without a buck.

I should have shot that sucker but thought I could get closer. Lesson learned, if he's in range shoot him.

Yesterday I glassed up 4 does and 17" 2X2 (with them) in southern unit 44A. But nothing I wanted to stalk.

A bad day hunting still beats working!

spent the last 2 1/2 days hunting at about 5000 feet elevation. Judging by what I saw, the rut has started and going pretty well. I did not see the numbers of deer but everything I saw was herded up with a nice buck.

just two nervous does. but before i see if any thing was behind them 2 ladys on horses came through, waved at me and made a big circle thru the valley i was watching. then i lost my camelpak with my camera a few other things in it.

I went out today from dawn til 3pm as a warm up to 9 days hunting starting next weekend. Didn't see any today. I've got a couple of groups of does pegged so I'm counting on the rut to pull the bucks in with em.

I am hunting in SE Arizona and the muleys are going nuts down here. Every doe has a good buck with them.
