Well, if you drew DE142O2A or DM142L1R your hunt dates just got creamed again by military training closures.
They had already shut down access to the hunt unit for Oct 1-31 which took the entire first month out of the archery hunt and obliterated antelope hunts.
Just this morning the military changed it again and now it is open starting today but only till Nov 9 and the unit will be closed to hunting Nov 10 through Dec 7th. In the peak rut. see notification here
Rifle guys will only be able to hunt Dec 8-14 instead of the expected Dec 1-14. Tough schedule for such a high points draw tag. At least the rifle guys can return tag now since it is more than 30 days out and get points back. Us archery hunters may be SOL since the
So this latest shift takes a huge added bite out of the bow hunt and a giant bite out of the very high pref point rifle hunt. I get it that military training take precedence of course but sure hard on hunt planning.
If you are an archery hunter and this wrecks you ability to hunt, contact CPW, I did. And ask for ability to return the tag and get points back. Decision rests with the SE Regional manager, Brett Ackerman, to determine if special circumstances warrant allowing archery guys to turn in tag and get points back at this point. Sure there are some hunt days remaining as a possibility, unless the military shifts schedules again, but only if you can actually make time within the very constrained schedule. And the hunt has been closed since the opener so nobody has been able to hunt so far. At this point nobody has been able to access the unit since the Oct 1st opener--till this morning when one had to happen to look at the military website to just happen to see this latest snafu was posted early this morning.
