UNIT 2 ELK

I would like to know your experiences hunting elk in this area of N. New Mexico. I am especially interested in rifle an ML hunts. I appreciate any info.

never hunted elk there before but, 2 years ago on a deer hunt we saw a real nice 5x5. it was the only elk we saw in 5 days of deer hunting. then again we only hunted the forest the first morning...

I hunted deer in 2b this year with ML on September 24-30. We saw lots of elk sign, but never saw or heard an elk in nine days. I don't know anything about 2a or 2c. I met some local guys up there and they seem to find the elk. I heard back from one guy whose mom shot a nice bull.

Can be done.

#2 archery bull in state came from unit 2.

Better do your homework, they are in certain areas and in small herds.






Outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.

I've hunted unit 2 a couple times with a rifle, there are some good bulls but finding them can be tough.I did not get anything big and never saw lots of elk.You will need to spend time in the unit scouting.
