After 6 years of hunting unit 27 for coues my son and I decided to switch to unit 23. Plenty of deer and some great bucks over the years in 27. But the last couple years with multiple face to face run ins with armed drug runners has us rethinking our coues deer hunting in New Mexico. I've got some good starting points I believe and some good glassing areas we've identified on google maps. My biggest questions is what kind of numbers can we realistically expect to see and what kind of bucks. Thanks for any input anyone has. If anyone has any questions about Utah or Idaho , I'd be more than happy to help out. We've hunted 16C a lot the last couple years for elk in NM and more than happy to share info on that unit as well.

Did you ever get any information on the unit 23. I was thinking of putting in for the draw on a muzzleloader there, but not sure if there are many MD there.

I hunted coues in 23 in 2017 and 2018. We did see a few mule deer. Nothing too big, I believe the best bucks we saw were a couple 3X3s and one 4x4. 130 inch type bucks.

Thank you for the information. Just been reading a lot on this unit but all is really old. I hunted there in the Blue range area when you get a MD tag for ML over the counter. LOL not looking for a trophy just a fun time with a few buddy’s.
