Unit 43

Spent a lot of time in the eastern side of the unit ever since I was a kid. Trying to familiarize myself with some other areas of unit 43 and places that might hold higher numbers of elk than what I have seen. I know where some good size mule deer like to hang but the elk have me stumped. Didn't draw any tags this year so all OTC for me. Interested to see how Stewart Creek fire has affected animal movement also. Anybody heard how the fire is doing lately?

its only creating a small plume of smoke from one hot spot. id expect it to be out by the end of the week. at one point, i could see a few cow elk grazing right under the helicopters, i dont think the critters moved terribly far.
