Hey Guys, Ive been lurking here for years, but just now feel I have something worth while for you. I drew a unit 44 deer tag! I am an Oregon resident now but lived in Orofino for a few years. I love Mulies. Its always been my preferred game. This is the first "real" limited entry tag I have drawn. Ive killed a few with my bow and rifle, but never anything worthy of this site. I am in school full time(mid-life crisis) now and put in for 44 because of the dates. It doesn't interfere with school. I drove through it a few times while living in Idaho and love the terrain, and saw some beautiful bucks. I was headed over this weekend to do some scouting but my Cruiser took a dump. So now I am rebuilding an engine. I will be headed over for Labor day with the family to camp and do what scouting I can so I can hopefully post some porn for you. I have always just ogled over the pics you guys get.
My plan for the hunt is to spend my 40th birthday in anticipation alone on the mountain. Sept 14th is my birthday and 15th is opener. Then the first 10 days if needed of the season. IF still not successful I will come back later in the hunt.
Since I have spent most of my time in Oregon most of my hunting partners don't understand my obsession with MD since there are very few good areas left here and the elk hunting seems to enamor people here more than deer. I will be going at it solo. My wife will have to stay behind because the boys will be just getting back into school. To say I am pumped is an understatement. I have already had some great info from guys I have built rifles for and just internet buds, so I feel prepared already. I just had to post something since I wasn't able to get over there this weekend. The delay is killing me! If you have any pics of 44 deer, either live or dead I would love to see some to keep the blood pumping while I spend what little money and time I have working on the truck in preparation for Labor day, and working out, and researching, just generally driving the wife nuts.
Now back to researching what real mule deer look like!
