Anyone have any tips or know of any specific areas for hunting elk in unit 53. We leave Friday 10-12-07. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try Ute mountain and El Rito area. Good luck and very steep. Never hunted so hard to only see 2-elk. It was hot and rained every day. Another good area is by Midnight mine. Should be better now though that the surrounding ranches are running hunts and the VV. Good luck and it is pretty country.
