I have a third season rifle deer tag for this unit that just landed in my lap and I am looking for whatever information you folks in-the-know are willing to part with about this unit. I am coming from Idaho and have started my map scouting but I need to hear some on the ground facts about which of the three units is the best for early Nov., were the does hang out this time of year, overall best location to base camp from. It seems that the elevation changes from one side of the unit to the other is drastic. PM's appreciated and returned.

I am familiar with units 52 and 411 - the rut has been starting early during the 3rd season but alot of private ground and hard to get permission. There is alot of BLM ground but access is difficult from the lower elevations - there is access from the pipeline road, larue creek and from the top of the Grand Mesa - there are some good bucks in the area. Need to get a forest service map of the Grand Mesa if you haven't already. The Grand Mesa is around 10700ft at the top and drops to around 6000 feet around the Cedaredge area. Good chance for snow in the 3rd season. You can pick up a free map at Leisure Time Sports in Cedaredge that shows you the ATV trails on the Mesa.
