My step dad has been using an old Bushnell scope for the last 10 years and it leaves much to be desired to say the least. He has been wanting a new scope for some time and doesn't have the money for a Top 3 scope.
I did some checking and found the new Vortex Viper HD online and it had some great reviews. He decided that he liked the specs and would give it a try. He ended up getting it from Jake's archery in Orem and I told him I would pick it up for him.
I was very impressed with the scope. I have a 20-60x65 Swarovski HD and it doesn't compare with that of course, but it was also $2,000 less at $549. For the price it is great. I would compare it to a Leupold Gold Ring or Meopta class of scope. He got the 15-45x65. It is designed a lot like my Swarovski with a lot of the same features.
It has a rubber type coating on it. It has a collar on it so that you can spin the scope to get a different angle on a tripod or window mount. This scope came with a nice neoprene cover that is just like the Cabela's scope skins cover that I bought for my Swarovski for $40. A nice little bonus.
The dual focus is very smooth and easy to use. It also has a built in sun shade. Overall fit and finish was great. The eye relief is great compaired to scopes in it's price range.
I would highly recommend this scope to anyone that is looking for a good scope with a great warrenty and at a great price.
