I was contacted this summer by an acquaintance of my dads. His Son drew one of the 10 youth permits new to the unit this year. He happened to mention this to my dad and since I live near the unit and look at the bucks there often my dad gave him my number. After hooking up with Bryan and 12 yr old Levi the game was on! I made several scouting trips for them leading up to the 9/18 opener. Levi and his dad came down to hunt the evening. We ventured out looking for a particular buck I had seen. After looking over a couple of little bucks we made a large loop back towards where I had been seeing the buck of choice. Right before dark I spotted a buck feeding. We got within 200 yds and looked him over. Low and behold it was the buck Levi wanted. we moved a little to the left and Levi stood up with his .243 on shooting sticks and dropped the hammer. the buck went about 15 yds and piled up. He is a three point main frame with two stickers making him a 5X3 and just shy of 25 inches. We were all very excited...my first guide type situation and what a rush...especially for a well deserving 12 yr old. I will try to post pictures
