We have a phugg'n criminal control problem! And anyone who thinks this is the exception rather than the rule, put down the crack pipe!

YAKIMA, Wash. ? A gang member who did hard time for a shooting at the east Yakima Wal-Mart is being held on $200,000 bail following his third arrest in a year for possession of a firearm.

Rigoberto E. Gonzalez, a 23-year-old La Raza Norte?o who goes by the street name ?Crazy Thug,? was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop on North First Street led to the discovery of an AK-47 assault rifle with a 30-round magazine in his car.

It was his third arrest in almost exactly a year on a gun charge.

?How many times do we have to arrest this guy before he stays off the street?? said Capt. Rod Light, spokesman for the Yakima Police Department. ?Let's hope the third time?s the charm.?

Gonzalez first made headlines in June 2005 after he was arrested in connection with a gang shooting near the front entrance of Wal-Mart.

Initially he was charged as an accessory, but after investigators reviewed security footage of the shooting, Gonzalez was charged as the shooter and sentenced to 75 months in prison, or just over six years, for first-degree assault.

State corrections records show he was released in August 2011, and by November he was linked to a gang-related shooting, according to YPD records.

On Jan. 13, 2012, he was arrested on a gun charge after a traffic stop on Fruitvale Boulevard near the 7-Eleven on 16th Avenue. A loaded .380 semiautomatic pistol was found under the front passenger seat, leading to a charge of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Court records show Gonzalez was initially held on $100,000 bail. After 4 1/2 months in jail, he was released on reduced bond of $75,000 posted by Jail Sucks Bail Bonds.

With that case still pending, he was picked up again in December on a firearms charge. Bail was set at $20,000.

In that case, Gonzalez was picked up in connection with a Dec. 14 raid at a restaurant on Ranchrite Road near Nob Hill Boulevard and First Street that resulted in the arrest of several documented Norte?os.

Among them was Gonzalez, who was allegedly found hiding in a storeroom in the basement. Officers said they found a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol under a nearby mop bucket, along with a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.

Prosecutors filed another gun charge as well as a drug dealing charge.

On Monday, Jail Sucks Bail Bonds came through with a bond and Gonzalez was released. That led to Thursday?s incident.

In the latest case, Officer Tarin Miller came into contact with Gonzalez as part of a traffic stop near the am/pm minimart on North First Street.

Miller, a former member of the Yakima police gang unit who recognized Gonzalez as a high-ranking gang member, said he was especially nervous and that she had to warn him repeatedly to stop putting his hands in his pockets.

During the contact, Miller spotted what she described as the handle of a firearm sticking out from underneath some clothing on the floor of the back seat. A search warrant was obtained, leading to the seizure of the rifle, which Miller described as an ?AK-47 style assault rifle.?

Light, the police spokesman, said Friday he had seen the gun, which he described as a semiautomatic version of the Russian assault rifle.

How Gonzalez could get released twice on separate gun charges with his record troubled Light.

?It's obvious the guy?s an absolute villain and is extremely dangerous. He?s proven that in the past,? he said of Gonzalez. ?Let's hope this time it sticks.?

Deputy prosecutor Troy Clements conceded mistakes were made in the case, particularly with regard to his second arrest, but he also said there was plenty of blame to go around, including for Yakima police.

He said there was no record of why Gonzalez?s bail after his arrest in December was so low, noting the $20,000 amount was set by a judge over a weekend without full benefit of police reports and prosecutor input.

The probable-cause statement did not note Gonzalez?s recent arrest history, Clements said. Meanwhile, court rules require a five-day notice to defense counsel and a special hearing to increase bail.

?If I would?ve had it my way, the guy would?ve been rolled up hard on the second one,? Clements said, adding, ?The system slipped this time, no question about it.?

"The system slipped this time, no question about it"......Really?

The "system" is messed up on a National level!

This garbage is on the street, while some old white guy, who unintentionally violated some obscure statute, is in jail on terrorist charges.

Next week, when Mr. Gonzalez gets bailed out, he is going to be really pissed to learn that he cannot have a 30 round magazine for his AK!

In the late 80's CA. passed a law called "use a gun, go to prison". It even stopped judges from granting probation and parole boards from granting parole if convicted under that law. You did a flat 5 years on the gun charge along with the time you got for the robbery or crime you committed with the gun.

One big problem, all the county D.A.'s in CA. use that law as a bargain chip in getting the criminal to plead guilty to the robbery or other crime he committed and they drop the gun clause law as part of the plea bargain to avoid a jury trial.

It is a rare occassion if a criminal gets convicted with that law due to D.A.'s plea bargaining it off and the criminal ends up doing less time in prison. Worthless law as it is now used.

I am willing to bet on the case given above, you will find the D.A.'s office guilty of doing plea bargains to allow that gang banger being out on the streets just waiting to kill someone down the line.

Any LEO that is not appointed (such as the police chiefs obummer has backing his agenda) and in fear of losing their job for speaking the truth (again, such as the police chiefs obummer has backing his agenda) will tell You banning weapons will not have any positive effect on the reduction of firearms related violent crime. Criminals don't give a rat's ass about laws, thus that is why they are criminals. Criminals see nothing wrong with their conduct, it is their way of life. Guns exist and therefore always will. You cannot keep guns out of the hands of those who are determined to possess them for whatever purpose, good or evil. Those who believe that making certain guns or for that matter all guns illegal are one of two things, extremely naive, or worse, looking to control You. Our socialist government is not naive, however the Sheeple are. The government knows that gun control has no positive effect on the reduction of firearms related violent crime. The cities and states with the strictest gun control laws are also the cities and states with the most firearm related crimes. Gosh!, there's a shocker! However, government will continue to try to sell their lie by repeating it and repeating it until Joe public, the Sheeple buy into it. Our government which really only has a couple of purposes, to protect OUR borders (major fail!) and foreign interests, has grossly over-stepped it's bounds to the point that it controls You in all areas of Your life. Gun registration is a crock of crap also, again, those who want to obtain and possess firearms for committing crimes will, they don't care about laws or penalties. Gun control of any form only violates the Rights of the law abiding citizen, and reduces their ability to protect themselves from evil, period! We the People, YOU, have a Right to own firearms. This right goes beyond OUR Constitution, it is a God given Right, the Right to defend ourselves and what is ours. The attached video (Judge Jeanine, Fox News) should be seen by all, especially the naive.

Nontypical,

If You are referring to me, You are grossly wrong. I spent 28 years, paid by the tax payer, protecting. I took an oath that I would and I continue to live by that oath and above that, God's law.

I hope You are correct in that Nontypical was referring to the banger. Believe me, the POS banger gonzales is loving this publicity. This will do nothing but elevate His status with the gang. Also, what many do not realize is that doing time is expected and applauded by gangs. So going back to the pen is no big deal and is often intentional. Most hard-core bangers strive to make it to the "big house" or high level prisons as this also makes them more influential within their ranks. And yes, this banger will end up killing if he hasn't already, unless someone kills him first.

Geez guys .,, Im sorry but,, what was the perps name I missed it, was it Jones, Smith, Anderson, and also didnt I read he was affiliated with a group of other citizens , who was it again,,. boy's club, the ymca..hmmmmmm

My post was actually made 3 minutes before yours was,NORKAL.Not referring to you at all.In fact,I agree with everything you said in your post.

Amen everybody.

This is where our government is failing, and our elected lawyers totally overlook it. Creating more law when they can't prosecute and enforce all the law they've already created doesn't do anything.

Unfortunately, this situation is the norm, and not the exception. As mentioned, this thug is in no way concerned with going to prison. He is probably perfectly comfortable with the procedure of getting arrested. That is where we are messing up. He should fear the consequences of his actions. He should fear the judge's setence. But in the end, he has nothing to be afraid of from our weak judicial system.

It must be frustrating as all hell to be a peace officer, arresting repeat offenders like this thug only for the DA to give him a slap on the wrist and release him back onto the streets to repeat the cycle all over again.

Why would he fear the gallows?.......or any other REAL punishment.

The odds are ultra low that he will be off the street for any length of time. Even when he goes to prison, he can keep his street status, get whatever he wants and still run things out on the street.

Thanks Nontypical,
I should have looked at the time You made Your post. I know my views are considered by many to be extreme. I am afraid I have witnessed our system fail a few times too many and seen the results of that failure.

And that's the problem! Start letting a few of them phuckers swing or put a bullet in their ear and maybe the next one will think twice. Probably not, but at least the dead SOB won't victimize anyone else! We have guys on death row right here in Utah who have been sucking oxygen and wasting tax payer dollars for upwards of 30-years! We sure have become a nation of feel good puzzies!

?To prohibit a citizen from wearing or carrying a war arm . . . is an unwarranted restriction upon the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of constitutional privilege.?
