which season?

How do you guys determine which season you're going to hunt? I would imagine the 1st LE hunt is number 1. But after that, how do you decide between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons? Does elevation play a part? My question is, if you go later in the season can you expect to hunt lower and sometimes with less work?

My bad. I should have included more. Let's say either one. What would you look for if you are after an elk with a rifle? How about a muley buck with a rifle?

We picked one and stuck with it year after year. Took us abotu 6 years to start patterning the animals.

Depends on the unit and number of folks planning to hunt in the party. This year we chose 2nd b/c of the price & voucher availability needed to get our group of 7 hunting in one unit.

What kind of weather you want to hunt in is a big factor. If it is only local elk/deer you are hunting after 2 or 3 rifle seasons they can be rather skittish you could say...

The last 10 days of archery or first rifle season for elk.. possibly fourth if you have an area with a migratory herd. Third season for deer, if you have the points 4th season.
