I'm hoping to draw an Oryx tag pretty soon and one of the highlites on any hunt for me is to get some really good pictures right after the kill. Does anyone have any stories about cameras and WSMR?

Yeah; not allowed at all, and you would be foolish to risk trying to sneak one on. Just the way it is. They will let you drive up to your animal after harvest. Load your gemsbok up whole with a friend, and drive off the base before taking pictures.

They search your truck at the gate prior to your hunt and if you are caught with a camera or camcorder will escort you off the base. Not worth the risk! A buddy of mine stashed his camera on the road outside the base to take photos after he got his.

I just hid my camera about a mile outside the gate and picked it up on the way out. If you get caught with any illegal items such as cameras, alcohol, drugs, etc. they will send you home. No second chances. They sent 2 vehicles home at the gate on our hunt. I don't know what for.

That's a real hard $1600 lesson to learn. No refund! My hunting partner said his vehicle search was very thorough.

Let's think about this.....MILITARY INSTALLATION......CURRENTLY AT WAR STATUS.....what do you think they would do if they found a camera?!

Just got back from their last weekend. They check your license and insurance and registration outside of the gate. Then they search your car inside of the gate. That way if there are cameras, alchohol, etc. they can throw you out, as you were on the range with those items. Saw one guy get tossed...expensive lesson
