Wolf or coyote?

My buddy and I looked at these and I originally thought it was a wolf but my buddy figures with the better definition in the second pic the ears are long and the nose is short and pointy so he thinks it is a coyote. What do you think? It is the longest legged coyote I have seen!

Looks like Wiley E. Coyote to me rather than the Big Bad Wolf. But it is rather hard to tell, I haven't seen either animal since moving here to New Mexico.
