Hey everyone,

This is a HUGE long shot since there's only a few tags issued in the last couple of years. I got drawn for a desert sheep tag on the San Andres NWR that's on the White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico. This year they gave out 4 tags. If anyone knows someone that has drawn in the past, I'd greatly appreciate getting in touch with them!

I've got a call in to someone that works with Albuquerque Police that had a buddy draw last year and I'm hoping to hear back....was trying to get a VIN inspection done on a boat trailer last week and I should have told him to have his buddy get ahold of me. From what he was saying, they try to tell you which class 4 they want shot lol! Maybe that's why the email I got said there was a possibility we'd be "escorted" by someone from White Sands, USFWS, or NMDGF?

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the fact I was drawn for this hunt! Believe it or not, I was actually hoping to be drawn for the 4th year in a row for antelope, but that didn't happen. I probably oughta buy a lottery ticket with the luck I've had in the draw. Of course, I haven't drawn an oryx tag in the 10 years I've applied...go figure!

Even though most people do a DIY, I've asked a good friend of mine that's an outfitter to help me out. Figured his mules will make the job easier and he's been around sheep on the Armendaris Ranch (Ted Turner) near Elephant Butte while he was lion hunting. Sure, I could go with the "advertised" guys, but I don't need "hot and cold runnin whores" for 8500 bucks lol! I'm considering this a hunt with a friend I've known since 1992 when he was pissed he couldn't go back on active duty in Force Recon/USMC during the first Gulf War to shoot ragheads. Awesome guy and he's said we're holding out for a thumper. The price we agreed on is super reasonable and there's no doubt we're going to tag the best ram possible...it's almost once in a lifetime for him and it will be for me! I'm comfortable with my decision to hire Mike and that's what matters since I know him as a man.

Anyway, if anyone knows of someone that's had a tag for this hunt, please let me know! It sounds like this is one for me to screw up haha!

That is going to be an awesome hunt. I hunted Gemsbok on the Whitesands in 2011 and remember seeing all those mountains. Very intriguing tag.
Good Luck!!
