LAST EDITED ON Sep-21-10 AT 09:51PM (MST)[p]I hunted it in 2005 for deer and then for elk in 2008. I got a 186 deer. The story was in Trophy Hunter Mag. My bull was about a 310 but he had a real neat fish hook shape. He walked himself and his cows up out of a deep hole, right where I could get him out easily and stood broadside at 550 yards. I had help with me on this trip. A good friend that gave up opening day deer hunt to go with me. Everything seemed to say "this is a gift, accept it graciously." And I did! Anyway, I also went with another friend that drew for deer. Most deer hunters seem to swarm the south end of Little Mtn. A lot of pressure off the west side just below the pines and quakes. If I were to draw again I would want to explore the north end. It just looks like good deer habitat. I've known several that have taken good bucks down off the south end in the pinion/junipers. There's some big deep canyons and lots of hidden country. There's a lot of mid range bucks across the highway, south of Clay Basin. There's also quite a few 2 tracks. You'll notice a huge area on the north side of Clay Basin, with a steep rim running east and west along it from the highway to Pine Mtn. I saw a guy packing a great buck up out of that area down where the dirt road drops south into Browns Hole. Now that's a good chunk of teraferma that you probably won't see anybody messing with. There is some good looking country all along the east side of the Res. but I haven't spent time in it. I have a couple other spots that I could tell you about if you need more info.
