Youth Hunting in Utah

Had someone drop by the house today that said if youth can pass the Hunter Education course the can hunt the general deer. Anyone know anything on this? She wont be able to put in for the draw because she does not have a license right now but we could go for any left over tags if it is true.

She may hunt big game if she turns 12 before the start of that hunting season. If a youth passes hunter safety and is under the age of 12, they are able to hunt small game with a youth small game license. The cool thing about the new hunter safety age rule is the voucher that you buy to take the hunter safety course is also that youths small game hunting license for one year.

for big game it is 12 years old. For small game, they can hunt as soon as they pass hunters safety.

everyone is correct about being 12 to hunt big game accept for one thing.if they are eleven they can apply for general deer and youth anybull or bucks and bulls tag but just cannot hunt until they turn twelve.so rifle deer starts on sat but birthday is on monday then they can start hunting on monday not before.
