Here is a picture that I have had emailed to me several times today, I figured it would already be on this site. The email said that it was hit near Sandy, Utah. Too Bad!!

That's to bad.Not to take away from the terrible way this buck met his end, but he has to score awesome in the typical category. Looks to be 190 class buck. To bad it wasn't a hunter walking up to this magnificent animal.

Whats he score?

So, what does everyone think he'd score? He is young and not all that wide. But he has good fronts, backs and very good eyeguards. I'm thinking mid 160's.

Much better than 160.

If he was a 160 buck, those eyeguards alone would make him a 170 buck!!! I'd say he is at least a 180+ buck, probably actually a 180-185 class buck. Look at the other pictures on the other site, you can see he was a true monster!

RE: Much better than 160.

I agree with Adamosa, mid to high 160's his mainframe is not that impressive and those forks are nowhere near 185 quality forks, however he was a good up and commer with good upside, it is unfortunate he got nailed by a car.

RE: Much better than 160.

I disagree with you both. This buck is no way in the 160 range. You honestly think that without the eyeguards he is a 150 range buck?? Maybe you need to see a 150 range buck for comparison.

Here is a 155 buck.

Maybe you need to look at some other pictures. I can't figure out how you think this guy is only a 160 buck.

Let's just throw out some low ball numbers and see what they add up to, OK?

Main Beam - 22?
G1 - 5?
G2 - 14?
G3 - 9
G4 - 8
H1 - 5
H2 - 5
H3 - 5
H4 - 5

Inside Spread Credit = 22??

78 Total + 78 = 156 + 22 = 178? Plus his 4 inch cheater on the back. 182? Maybe my numbers are high, maybe they are low? I would bet a lot of money that this buck is closer to 185 than 165.

I'm sure I am off on the estimates, just pure estimates. The best indication to go from is the guys finger in the 3rd picture. If his finger is say, 3 inches, then the G3 has got to be 8-9 inches. (The left horn looks bigger than the right).

RE: Much better than 160.

I saw this one posted elsewhere and I thought it was pretty funny and related to road kill . . . .

Dying deer given CPR

By Corey Wicks
Staff reporter

When it comes to concern for wildlife, people in Joseph put their mouth where their concern is.

Literally.

Wallowa County Detective Neil Rogers was called to a report of a deer that had been hit by a vehicle Sunday, July 2, in downtown Joseph. When Rogers arrived a crowd of people had gathered in the street and were in the process of pulling the deer out from underneath a trailer, Rogers said.

The deer was badly mangled but managed to wake up and stumble past the crowd. It then fell into a nearby creek and started drowning.

Rogers went to re-park his car and when he returned, two men were pulling the deer out of the creek.

?One guy was giving compressions and the other guy was giving it mouth-to-mouth,? Rogers said. ?I couldn't really look over there because I was starting to laugh too hard. It had to be one of the funniest things I've seen in law enforcement.?

The detective didn't know whether a person could contract any unusual diseases by giving CPR to a deer.

?I don't even like touching those things without gloves. I couldn't even imagine going to that extreme,? Rogers said.

The deer was too badly injured to survive, he said. Rogers then took the deer behind a building and shot it.

The detective didn't know whether the first aid responders were locals, but speculated that they were ?probably from Portland or somewhere.? He added, ?they haven't been around here much.?

They haven't been around here much...Really?

One year I bought some calves and were branding them at the neighbors place. We branded the first one without realizing the electric iron wasn't properly grounded. Basically electrocuting the first calf. Now these were about 300 pound calves so losing one would have cost about $400 at the time. The prior owner grabbed the calves front leg and kneeled on the calves chest and started basically doing CPR (without breathing into the calf) and wouldn't you know it the calf woke up, ran off and was fine.

Shelbys,

I've got to disagree with you. I think your numbers are a little inflated. What do you think the following deer scores? Hard to see, but it's got an almost identical in-line extra on the left side as the buck in question.

RE: Much better than 160.

That buck looks to be around 180 that is my guess if i saw it in the road i would try to hit it.

RE: Much better than 160.
