Well been off her for about three months now try to sit here and catch up with what is going on. But the left knee kept me away but getting better with the weekly exercising at P.T. class each week. Been watching a few younger gals and guys doing some of their training and they make it look easy but for this 75 y.o. I keep trying and pushing and am getting better after only a month now. Had the left knee done on Dec. 6th around 2:45pm and was up walking around the hospital halls that night at 10:30pm I thought I had this surgery whipped and the next morning I was back doing it again. After I went to exercising classes and the instructor even told me he was amazed at my flexability in the knee I thought I was Superman. Went home later that same day and then the next morning is when reality sit in, the meds wore off and I was hurting trying to bend the knee.
Almost 7 weeks and I am doing better and hope to hit the hills this fall somewhere.

The surgery was done by Robotic Machine operated by the Surgeon and his computer. It took 16 staples to close up the incision.

Kilo, I am 69 and have both knees replaced...One four years ago and the other about 1.8 years ago. After one complete year, your left knee will be bout healed up and you will begin to like it. After a couple of years, it will be completely strong and ready for anything. My older knee is the best one as I still have some pain in my #2 (will be two years this May). I am glad that I had both surgeries as I am in much better health now that I have had them replaced. Good luck to you and you will be continue to improve. I am going bull elk hunting this September using archery equipment in Wyoming. I can appreciate what you have been through as a knee replacement surgery is a very painful ordeal. Cow Tag from southern Illinois.

Kilo get well and you will be back to hunting and enjoying life. My wife had her right knee replaced over 2 years ago and she surprised her doctor on how fast she healed and getting around. She admitted the exercise was painful, but must be done to accelerate the healing process.

Keep at it KW, You will be glad you did it. My Mother had both of hers done a few years back and it made a world of difference.

Ouch!!!!
I hope for a speedy recovery for you Mr Kilo!

Mine are still natural but a sister and a brother have had both done. I hope it's not genetic or I have that to look forward to. At 63 mine are still okay.

Hope all goes well Brian. I know what would help you feel better. A big Ole T-bone from the Star. Maybe when it gets a little better you should make a road trip to Elko. Fatrooster.

Heal quickly Brian!!

HOOK 'EM!

Brian,
I sincerely hope you heal quickly and successfully. I know what being immobile does to a man! We talked 2 years ago when I had my first right knee surgery. (I work up at the Geysers) That was microfracture surgery. It didn't work and I don't recommend it! I'm a 6'4", 280# very active man. My current surgeon said my previous surgery never had a chance!

I'm 34 now. Had surgery on my right knee again on 12/28. It took 60 sutures to close me up. Three more weeks and I can bear full weight and hopefully start driving! With good PT and smart decisions in the future, I shouldn't ever need a TKR.

My last procedures were distal femoral osteotomy DFO, tibial tubercle osteotomy TTO, lateral meniscus transplant and matrix assisted autologous chondrocyte implantation MACI. I also has platelet rich plasma therapy while in surgery.

I hurt my knee in '03. Did some serious cartilage and meniscus damage. My right leg was also knock knee'd around 3?. That misalignment contributed to even more cartilage damage over the years. Fixing that involved a lot of bone cutting. My right leg is full of titanium plates and screw's!

After surgery, in recovery, I fractured my femur where one of the screws was. (Long story) Had to go in the next night and get a full length trauma plate installed. Spent 7 nights in the hospital, needed two units of blood. Still dealing with the affects of blood loss. Fortunately, I've got a freezer full of deer and elk to help with iron deficiency!

Rehab is definitely the brutal part! PT hurts and being stuck at home takes a mental toll.

I did have one really good nurse that happened to be good looking too! She made the hospital stay seem better than it was!
