Have any of you ever seen a coues buck bed down next to a cow? This year in mexico I watched a buck walk through a heard of cows then bed not 2 feet from a cow I believe they use cattle as a warning system any comments? CM

On my hunt in Mexico last month, my guide told me coues deer do not like being around cows. He said cows will push deer up the side of the mountain, in most instances he was correct.......from what I saw.

I have seen alot of coues right next to cows feeding etc. I personally dont believe the cows have any where near the negative impact on coues as I have read/heard. I dont like the overgrazing etc but seem to see the coues right in and among the cows many times. Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Here in 6A (AZ) a few years back I watched a doe and fawn come into a tank that had a "range maggot" (cow) already standing on one side of the tank. When the deer approached the water, from the opposite side of the tank the RM was on, that cow ran around the other side of the tank and pushed them away from the water. They'd try to come in at different angles and that stupid cow wouldn't let them. I got PO'd and went down there with my .357 and busted that stupid maggot! I'm totally kidding!!!!!!!!! I sure felt like it though.

I wish I could of filmed the whole incident actually there was a whole herd of coues bedded near the cattle when they started feeding they went right through the herd of cows there was 3 small bucks 4 does thats when one Buck layed down right next to a bedded cow it was real neat to watch that is why when I glass and find cattle I always look around the cattle herd I have found both mule deer and coues that way and yes they do scare off deer when you push them out ahead of you.CM
