Dall sheep outfitter help

I am looking for a Dall sheep guide in Alaska?
I know about Dan Montgomery but he is booked into 2008, would like to go in 2007. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Call Mike Scott (White Cloud Outfitters) for a run-down and reference on Lance. He is one of the better ones out there.

Check out www.maxschwab.com, he is a very small outfitter that only takes around 4 sheep hunters per year. My best friends hunted with him 2 years ago when the smoke was horrible and they still had an awesome hunt and shot 2 great rams. They recommend him and would go with him again.

After a bunch of research, I'd recommend one of the outfitters with exclusive guide areas in the Wrangell's.

Is this your first sheep hunt? I am booked in 07 for my first sheep hunt. I looked at the Alaskan Mountain Safari Website. Looks like a great outfit. Man there are alot of details to a sheep hunt. Good luck on your hunt this summer. Go shoot yourself a nice ram and bring us back a nice slide show!!

Yep, first sheep hunt with a tag in my pocket, been on a couple Wyoming hunts with friends that have drawn. Can't wait to go, I normally lose a lot of sleep just thinking about hunting in general but this one is killing me.

I am booked with Max Schwab out of Talkeetna in 07. He is a small outfitter with a good reputation. I am in the same boat in terms of sheep fever. Its pretty bad!!

Book with Montgomery or go with Stevenson. Both have great track records & reputation on big sheep in the Chugach and Talkeetna's. Worth the wait, if those are the areas you want to hunt.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-22-06 AT 11:54PM (MST)[p]I've hunted with Max Schwab, many years ago. He guided me to a nice brown bear on Kodiak. He was very good and I'd hunt with him again without hesitation. Max is a very good sheep hunter. I've been in some camps where he guided sheep hunters, and he did a very good job for them, though I didn't personally hunt sheep with him.

Hunted with Jake Gaudete, www.jakesalaska.com, a few years back. Excellent hunt, excellent service. Brother and I both got beautiful sheep. First class operation. Just don't ask him about the guy who missed the book bear with the pistol....

Give Todd Walton from Alaska Big Game Safaris a call, 907-355-4271. Todd has worked as a guide for Dan Montgomery for several years and now becoming an outfitter. Todd is still closely associated with Dan. In fact Dan is doing the flying for Todd until he gets his commercial license. I hunted with Dan in 03, Todd was not my guide but I got to know him a bit and he is a good guy. Todd might be a new outfitter but he learned form one of the best and he is no greenhorn when it comes to sheep hunting.
