Texting with a walkie talkie?

Does anyone make a radio that also does texting. Seems like that would be handy for noiseless communication. Where I hunt, cell phones won't work.

Take a look at the Delorme inreach. It is a satellite based texting unit and GPS. I can use it to stay in touch when I am off the grid. I can even control it via bluetooth from my iPhone. My wife can go to the computer and see where I am.

I have the Garmin Alpha, it can send messages to another alpha.

The Garmin Rhino radios, the upper end models do offer that feature

How about with your cell phone using a radio transmitter thingy.
