Arizona Javelina Question

Hello all, I recently purchased a couple over the counter (leftover) Javelina tags for unit 16A here in Arizona for myself and my wife. I live in Casa Grande so 16A is not necessarily my familiar area. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this unit when it comes to hunting Javelina? All I've been able to find thus far is what is on the Arizona Fish and Game website, and between two Fire/EMS jobs I haven't been able to get up there and do some propper scouting. This will be my wifes first hunt ever so getting onto a herd would be awesome and any help is appreciated! Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Feb-19-17 AT 07:16AM (MST)[p]The AZG&F website is pretty darn accurate and a great place to start, IMO. I'd go there and not only check those areas, but also drainages and flats near there.......hunt/scout if you will. Most folks are generally not going to give you any additional specific information, especially for a first time poster. So if you check the areas the site suggests and work hard there, you should find pigs. Good luck and have fun.

Appreciate the insight, yeah I figured it would be a stretch for a first timer to get any secrets but your reply is plenty helpful! I'll stick to the azgfd info for this one.

16A has javelina thru out the unit. The fish & game website is pretty accurate. Good areas to checkout are any of the side roads off Chicken Springs Rd. The south east portion of the unit off hwy
93 from Chicken Springs Rd. to the south border. Find the prickly pear cactus get up high & glass, glass, glass!!! Good luck.

Just looking some old posts and wondered how you guys did on that Unit 16A javelina hunt?

We hunted in Unit 18B, but the local folks who were in Unit 16A struggled a bit..
