130in 4x4 that just shed it's velvet. Biggest we saw was a 170+ incher in the sage. Saw him right at dark and wasn't able to locate his daytime bedding area.

I live very far from this area so I didn't scout as much as I would have liked. 9 yrs waiting to ML hunt an area with super low deer densities was a huge mistake on my part. I should have waited for a rifle tag or hunted another area numerous times. Nice area, nice people, low deer densities...

Just getting back ML hunt. By far the worst place and time to hunt that I have been. Went 1 for 2. Took 9 points, wish I never did that.

Heading out this weekend to Muzzleloader Unit 66 deer. Any tips on how high we have to go to find deer or are they anywhere?

A friend went doe hunting this last fall and the numbers for all deer were way down. It will take years to build the herd back up in Eastern MT. This mild winter should help though.

Tough hunt, Elk move down to Private land or Montana. Lots of hunters at the lower elevation.

I hunted R a few years ago when I first started hunting western states. I found a couple decent bucks on the walk in areas near shell. The only spots that seemed to hold any deer on the lower elavations were the irrigated private land. Thinking I had a good plan I went out the opening morning...

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to go out in early Sept and do some archery hunting and go back out in Oct. for rifle. Hope gas prices go down!
