Cyclone park sounded like a dove shoot last year on opening morning,alot of hunters but plenty of elk.Whiterock is dead on about the elk there and plenty of folks.I had better luck hunting small clearings surrounded by thick stuff than big open aspen like areas,and the bull I shot was sneaking...

Jaydanger thats some tough huntin there.I am heading there from NC in a couple weeks and will be tickled to shoot something,but I am guessing the drought is changing alot of the elk movements.Wonder if the recent rain will help or is it too late?

My cousin and myself have max points but I don't think I will worry with them again in Wyoming.He was with a friend that shot a 30 inch buck in 102 several years ago and thats all he thinks about.I just want to hunt and hate missing these years hunting some where there.

Get the Leica 8x-12x.I have really enjoyed mine,using it mostly on 8 power.But if I need to I have that quick flip to 12 power,really helps out.Excellent glass that you wont have to buy anything else.

Yeah but I have a feeling that things are changing for the better.They have gotten rid of some older players and replaced with youth,and that trend seems to work in the NFL.Maybe Garret can do it,he just needs more game experience,but I am losing hope that Romo will ever be able too.

Trying to get a feel for a cow elk hunt in one of these units.Having not been there really wanted some help if possible.Since i will be DIY, what are the chances most elk will be on private or needing horses to get too. I would like to try a cow hunt first and these tags are cheaper.Any thoughts.

My brother in law called me and I saw it,was kinda surprised because I have never heard of this.I have several 700's but thankfully never a problem.Bad about that kid that was killed on the other side of the vehicle by his mom.I don't think you can ever be too safe with any gun.

Hey wylycoyote,any guess how much less drop at that elevation than say 5000 ft?I have a similiar setup on my scope with dots and crosshairs out to 1000yds,but set for much lower elevation.And great bull with a really fine shot too for ya'll.

I would agree that the first shot should be the one who tags the buck.I would bet the size of the buck could make for an interesting dilema.I guess in any situation the best judgement would be to finish the animal to prevent any undue suffering.

Nah,I didn't mean that I agreed with what he did.He is a "great tv hunter" and so he may think he can do whatever.And probably doesn't care as much as us regular hunters,no matter what he says or does.Us hunters in the real world know the laws and if you don't follow them you are wrong.

Reaper,they passed it this year for bowhunting on private.was shot down by general assembly to be reviewed in next session.I spoke to a friend and game warden who said it would go thru next bow season.gun hunting is still a few years out.you think its bad,man i been dealin with it for 25 years...

North Carolina to eastern Montana last year for a deer and antelope hunt.4,988 total miles round trip. 1st day drove 17 hrs by myself as my partner had a suspended drivers license popped on him and that was a bummer.Will probably do again as flying costs has gotten so ridcoulous.

I would say yall done real good. I have seen bucks that class only 1 season in the last 4,and all on general tags on public land. I usually give up on a nice muley and shoot a riverbottom whitey by the last days.They are kinda easy. Real nice pics and thanks.

You will find land to hunt on in Warrenton and around that area.I live near Kerr Lake and you can hunt around almost the whole lake. Some deer get big there because they are hard to get to.You can also cross the line easily and hunt Virginia.There season for gun is shorter so the bucks get...
