Thats June 4th of 09 don't think this is an old 2004 proposal ( maybe somebody has a better link? )
Deer & elk hunting proposals start on page 19. From what I have heard it would go something like this- Elk Deer combined hunt early for 9 days. Followed by 9 day Muzzleloader hunt. That followed by another 9 day Elk Deer combined rifle hunt PUTTING PART OF THE LAST RIFLE HUNT DURING THE DEER RUT in November.
Be sure to note the mention by Aoude that he doesn't think hunting during the rut is "that bad" meaning what? That it wouldn't be that bad to have a rifle buck hunt during the rut?
(Lets back way up and talk more like - prove it, or be sure!)
I'm sorry if this has been hashed over -I did a search and didn't find anything. Don't get me wrong I'd love to have a rifle tag the first part of November for a buck. BUT WHAT I WOULD LIKE EVEN MORE IS FOR THESE PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY ACT LIKE THEY GIVE A CRAP IF THERE IS EVEN A DEER HERD IN UTAH ANYMORE! There was a plenty of mention about how many more tags could be issued, though.
I have some real problems with all this. For starters the majority of the southeastern unit is below objectives. HALF as many deer on the central manti than the objective- so what do they so - increase the hunt to 9 days! I want to know how a rut hunt will increase the objective? Do these people ever actually go out in the field and see how a buck acts in the rut!? Wasn't that the impotice for the muzzleloader changing to the earlier season we have now- what changed? Did I miss something. Did rut crazed bucks suddenly gain armor or something? Does a rifle hunt some how NOT distrupt the rut, but muzzleloaders did?
Am I the only one who can't believe it? I'm looking at it from the perspective of perpetuating or perhaps increasing quality of the deer hunt long term? I still haven't lost hope _ I think it's possible. ( hope that doesn't make me seem crazy to all you ) But with this proposal I don't mind saying that in my opinion - they are completely out of their minds! The only good thing I can see is that the poachers would have some legitimate legal competition! AND YES I MEAN THAT TOTALLY SARCASTICALLY!!! (meaning they could stop it if they would)
Well, I've stirred the pot- I want to know how you guys feel about this proposal?
Come on Monster Mulie posters = lets hear all sides!
