I saw a nice albino bull in that unit 6 years ago and later learned this is common to the area. True or not I also learned they are not true albinos, but the one I saw looked like it to me.
I don't believe the bulls that have been seen in this area are true albino's. There have been a number of bulls over the years that are really light colored, even white, but not true albinos.
The bull below was one that we killed in '06. It's not great, but this picture was taken through the spotting scope about an hour and a half before he met his demise. His hide was a really white/gray color, with his mane and lower legs being a darker grey.
In 2005 one about made me wreck my truck. Driving back to camp at mid-day out in the middle of the flats he was drinking from a well. I thought someone was playing a dumb joke until he picked his head up. Chased him up the mountain but only got one crack at him. He was looking back over his shoulder and my arrow hit a horn. He left with my broadhead in his main beam at about the royal. I heard a lady killed one that year but couldn't get confirmation that it was the same bull.
I heard of one, back in 2003-4 i believe. 8x8 that some of the locals had talked about. Never saw him, tried to find him but thats as far as i've heard of an albino bull in Ely.
