OK, so I began the other day climbing up a mountain to do some archery hunting. After climbing for an hour and a half, it got light, I saw no tracks and no deer. My buddy Adam had called me the night before to see if I wanted to ride out to Antelope Island with him to do a story on the public draw deer hunter and the hunt itself. Since my hunting sucked, I called him and said, "pick me up at the trailhead" and I ran down the mountain.
So now to the question for you all. If you drew say, the antelope island tag, the sportsmans tag, etc. and Mossback or any other outfitter offered to help you for "free", would you take them up on the offer?
Keep in mind, "free" refers to no money changing hands, but in the AI case, the Mossback logo goes on photos and the video goes into Mossback promo videos. There's no doubt Mossback benefits hugely from helping on certain hunts even though they may not be paid cash.
Doyle (Mossback) did help the draw hunter on AI. Doyle was out there glassing his butt off and communicating via radios with spotters on the high ridge. (I'm not sure if the spotters were part of Team Mossback or not) It took most of the day, but the big buck was obviously found and Doyle and the hunter, with the help of the spotters, moved in and got it done. The hunter and his family were incredibly happy for the help that Mossback provided. The hunter killed what is most likely the biggest deer he has ever killed and maybe the biggest he will ever kill.
I'll share my view later.
Anyway, I was just curious what you guys would do. Would you accept the help or not?
PS - While Mossback does benefit from helping a few select hunters for free, they really don't need to. I do not think Doyle was out there strictly for personal benefit. I honestly believe he wanted to see the hunter have a great hunt and get a monster. I think he really loves the challenge of finding and getting the best buck he can, no different than myself.
