We are looking to put together a Deer Hunt for Colorado for 2011. We have 10 Deer Pts and we are only familiar with two Colorado Early Rifle units, they would be Unit 43 & 471.
I would appreciate it if someone could offer some advice. It took alot of years to accumulate those points and I would like some feedback as to where in Colorado you would spend those points with the parameters being that it must be a Early Rife Hunt (September) and we really like hunting the High Country.
I was told of an area in Unit 43 that a rather popular TV program did a show there several years ago. I can remember seeing the show, it was actually a two part show and it looked like just what we are looking for. That was several years ago and I know things change. I won't name the area since I know how sensitive people are on this site to naming areas over the internet.
But I'm not sure if Unit 43 is the best area to spend 10 pts on a Early Rifle Hunt. You know after taking all the years to accumulate the points you would like to know you are making the right decision in applying for the area that will give you the best chance at a good buck.
We are backpackers and are used to the High Country, We have done 8 backpack hunts in WY and Co over the last 13 years and that is our preferred method of hunting although depending on where and how far back in we may consider a drop camp.
I would like to communicate via emails with anyone who would offer some advice. You know after spending the time to accumulate the pts you want to make the right choice as to unit.
Thanking you in advance.
